Changes in script have cost Soha Ali Khan the coveted role of Chandramukhi in Sudhir Mishra’s modern interpretation of ‘Devdas’.
Mishra’s film will be entirely different from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdaas . The story of Mishra’s ‘Devdas’ is set in the political world. Paro plays a simple girl who evolves into a shrewd politician. Chandramukhi is not a courtesan but an investment banker.
Shiney Ahuja , Lara Dutta and Soha were signed to play Devdas, Paro and Chandramukhi respectively, but now Soha has been dropped from the project because the makers want an international face to play Chandramukhi in the film.
Mishra regrets missing out the chance to work with his favourite actress Soha once again, but he looks forward to make another film with her soon.
This Friday, Mishra’s Khoya Khoya Chand , starring Soha, hits the theatres. Now, he wants to cast her in one more film that he intends to begin early next year.
Meanwhile, ‘Devdas’ has been postponed till March 2008.
