Hardly has Chitrangada Singh announced her comeback to films that she has got a film by the man who introduced her to Bollywood.
Chitrangada has appeared on the firmament of Hindi film industry just the way she had disappeared a couple of years ago – suddenly and unexpectedly. The gorgeous actress who is married to golfer Jyoti Randhawa, says the time she spent away from films made her absolutely sure that acting is her calling.
Now, director Sudhir Mishra , who brought Chitrangada’s acting talent to the fore in his acclaimed film ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’, has signed Chitrangada for his next film Aur Devdas .
The movie is Mishra’s own interpretation of original Devdas. Mishra has given the entire story a political angle. Instead of a bacchanalian lover, Devdas becomes a guy with political ambitions in Mishra’s flick.
Chitrangada will play Chandramukhi, a seductress and a high-class socialite who ends up falling for Devdas, but her love remains unrequited.
Lara Dutta has already been finalized to play Paro.
‘Aur Devdas’ will be made by Pritish Nandy Communications.
