Amitabh Bachchan's deep emotional connection with Chennai

Bollywood mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan has a deep emotional connection with the city of Chennai, which he revealed during the audio release function of Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan 's new movie Dasavatharam .

The city of Chennai, the Big B said with a tinge of nostalgia, was where he received his first award for his debut venture ‘Saat Hindustani’.

"It was given to me by Mr. Karunanidhi himself," he added.

Bachchan, whom Hollywood action hero Jackie Chan described as the legend and the superstar of superstars, lauded Haasan for his achievements, calling him an exceptional co-star and a talented and unique actor.

"You have done what we haven't been able to do. May you continue to surprise us with your work," he said.

"I've worked with him for one-and-a-half movies (half because the movie never got completed, he explained) and that experience is enough for a lifetime," he added.

Prior to the function, Bachchan spent time with a group of poor children, who had undergone free cardiac surgery at a private hospital in Chennai.

On that visit, Bachchan termed Indian doctors as more talented than their western counterparts adding that he would prefer them treating him whenever he fell ill.

"I trust Indian doctors and always prefer them treating me. The Indian doctors are doing wonders in the medical field and they are more talented compared to western doctors."

Lauding the hospital for performing the surgery free of cost, Bachchan donated Rs 11 lakhs as a goodwill gesture.
