Looking at the production stills of Shoojit Sircar’s film ‘Shoebite’, it appears that superstar Amitabh Bachchan plays a backpacker in the film.
The Big B was recently in Nasik, shooting for ‘Shoebite’ in a get-up that made him almost unrecognizable. The superstar lugged a rucksack and a sleeping bag on his back, and a khaki handbag on his shoulder. He had the make-up of a weary traveler, with long, white, ruffled hair and a scraggy beard.
What was most outstanding in the makeover was Big B’s right foot. While the superstar wore a shoe on his left foot, his right foot was shoeless and covered with a bandage to give the impression of a man who has walked a great distance and got his foot injured.
Even the first-look of the film shows a backpacked Big B, walking down a snow-filled road in a mountainous terrain. The punchline on the poster says “a journey of self-discovery”.
Says a source: “There are many scenes in the film that depict Amitji walking long distances with a rucksack on his back. In fact, if you recall, in the Manali schedule of the film, the shooting unit converted the Snow And Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) into a hospital. That schedule had Amit ji playing a patient who is admitted to the hospital with a foot injury due to extensive walking.”
‘Shoebite’ is directed by Shoojit Sircar , who made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed Yahaan two years back.
