It’s not that she is pestered by repeated questions about her plans of marriage to boyfriend Raj Kundra, nor is she trying to avoid the media. Shilpa has taken a vow of silence for spiritual reasons. 
In Indian spirituality, a maun vrat (complete abstinence from speaking) is a common practice undertaken to achieve spiritual growth. And Shilpa has taken a maun vrat of three days (Gosh! we don’t believe it) at a meditation camp by Oneness University in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. Shilpa, who has featured in fitness DVDs on Yoga, has been inclined towards spirituality of late. She earlier attended a camp by Yoga guru Baba Ramdev. Now, she has enrolled in the Oneness University where she claims to have met people who have achieved tremendous spiritual growth. In a message to a tabloid, Shilpa confesses that she found it difficult to keep silent during her maun vrat and at many times felt an instinctive urge to speak. But the tranquility of the surroundings, according to Shilpa, helped her keep her vow of silence. Shilpa’s maun vrat ends with the end of this week and she plans to return to Mumbai on Sunday. On the movie front, the actress is working in Sunny Deol ’s The Man and is also getting the nuts and bolts in place for her film production house which will produce a movie starring Shilpa and directed by Manish Jha.
