Nanha Taara Darsheel Safary now plays child of heaven

Darsheel Safary , the child star of Taare Zameen Par , has signed his second film, which appears as promising as his debut.

The movie would be a remake of the acclaimed Iranian director Majid Majidi’s Oscar-nominated film ‘Children of Heaven’ which told the story of a boy named Ali and his sister Zahra. Ali loses his sister Zahra’s shoes and the two kids decide to keep it a secret from their parents and teachers. So the two share the only pair of sneakers that Ali has, leading to one small adventure after another.

The Hindi movie would be directed by Priyadarshan and would have Darsheel playing the role of Ali. Of course, the character in the remake would be changed to suit the Indian context. Search, however, is still on for a little girl to play Darsheel’s sister in the film.

Reports say it took more than a little persuasion by folks at Percept Picture Company (who has bought the remake rights of the Iranian film) to get Darsheel aboard the project.

The child prodigy has been turning down all film offers since he shot to fame with his superb acting in Aamir Khan ’s film.

And before signing the Percept’s film, Darsheel reportedly saw a subtitled version of ‘Children of Heaven’ and liked the film and his role very much.

Now, let’s see if Priyadarshan ends up doing as commendable a job as Majid Majidi.
