Bollywood babes hone their musical skills

Being in acting profession provides ample opportunities and challenges for Bollywood stars to hone their other skills as well.

Farhan Akhtar learnt to sing while Arjun Rampal learnt to play the guitar for their respective roles in Rock On . Similarly Himesh Reshammiya , himself a musician, polished his guitar playing skills for Karzzzz .

Now, with men honing their musical skills, can lovely ladies be left behind?

Shilpa Shetty has been learning to play the violin for her role in Sunny Deol ’s film The Man . The actress has been training under a skilled violin player named Sandeep. Not just this, Shilpa has also watched a couple of videos of the renowned violinist Vanessa Mae “to get a rough idea of how to hold and play a violin”. While it’s been quite some time since Shilpa has been fiddling with the violin, the actress says she hasn’t yet learnt to play it properly, but learnt it sufficiently to play her role in ‘The Man’.

Esha Deol , too, has been getting her fingers scraped while learning the guitar for director Shivam Nair’s film Exchange Offer . Esha has been learning the instrument from a guitar player named Raju. And she finds it very difficult to get her fingers properly placed at different chord positions on the fret board. So far Esha has learnt to play the popular ‘Ek Haseena Thi’ tune from Subhash Ghai’s movie ‘Karz’. And she wants to learn to play the song “Dilbar Mere” from ‘Satte Pe Satta’ which is her mother Hema Malini ’s favourite song.

Another beauty who’s been learning a musical instrument is Katrina Kaif . She is learning to play the cello for Subhash Ghai’s film Yuvraj in which she pairs with Salman Khan . Though Katrina has been slogging to get an easy hand on the instrument, she finds it hard to master. However, she feels she has enough musical sense to make her cello playing look convincing on the big screen.
