HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | BOLLYWOOD Preity Zinta feels 'karmic' connection with Punjab05th Oct 2008 20.45 IST By Agencies With her two upcoming films portraying her as Punjabi woman, actress Preity Zinta says she feels a ‘karmic’ connection with Punjab. In Deepa Mehta ’s Heaven On Earth Preity plays a battered Punjabi housewife in Canada, while in Samir Karnik ’s Heroes she plays a girl from Punjab village. 
"One film (Heroes) is about giving the woman a chance and letting her flower. While the other (Heaven On Earth) deals with the theme that you can ill-treat a woman but can't break her spirit," Preity is quoted by a news agency. "Apart from owning the IPL team (of Mohali), I have now portrayed two faces of a Punjabi woman. Therefore, I feel a 'karmic' connection with Punjab," the feisty actress added. Speaking about 'Heroes' where she shares screen space with Salman Khan , Sunny Deol , Mithun Chakraborty , Bobby Deol and Dino Morea , Preity said she accepted the film because it is connected with the army. "It is not a war film and does not indulge in Pakistan bashing. We live in a global world and only war we can fight is the economic war. The film talks about our army, our country. It is about rose tinted youth and their interaction with the real heroes," she added. Speaking about 'Heaven on Earth', Preity said the film's script is based on real life stories. "I have met the affected women as part of my home work," she said. Last seen in The Last Lear , Preity said she would from now on focus on characters which are closer to reality even while remaining in the mainstream, commercial format. "I want to attempt roles which are unlike me in real life and bring respect to such characters on screen," she said.
