'Dev. D' spells doom for 'Aur Devdas'!

It’s been reported that Sudhir Mishra , the director of ‘Aur Devdas’, is shelving his project after watching ‘Dev. D’. According to the director, Anurag Kashyap ’s ‘Dev.D’ is so brilliant that to make another movie on the same subject doesn’t make any sense.

‘Dev. D’ is the sexed-up version, a modern take on ‘Devdas’, whereas Sudhir Mishra ’s ‘Aur Devdas’ is set against a political backdrop. The movie’s cast includes Shiney Ahuja , Chitrangada Singh and Lara Dutta . In fact, the film’s first look has already been released on the Internet and has Chitrangada puffing on a cigarette.


It’s being believed that Sudhir Mishra felt that his film is inferior to ‘Dev. D’ and decided to abandon the project. Whatever the case, ‘Dev. D’ has opened to positive reviews from critics and good response from the audience. And its collections are rising at the box office, especially in metropolises.

But what about ‘Aur Devdas’ cast? Sudhir is reportedly planning another movie with same cast and to be produced by the same production house, Pritish Nandy Communications.
