Priyanka Chopra feels that to prove one's acting mettle, one needn't rely on non-glamorous roles. Donning a sari, or scrubbing off one's make-up doesn't make one a better actor, according to her.Of late, we've been hearing about Bollywood glam dolls like Katrina Kaif , Lara Dutta or Bipasha Basu taking up non-glamorous roles to "show their histrionic prowess". But Priyanka has a different take on all this. She recently expressed her view: "By taking off your make-up you don't become a better actor. I think that it is something to hide behind and say I am uninhibited." According to the actress, she doesn't have to forgo make-up to show that she is acting well.
Priyanka's comment can be seen as a potshot at her contemporaries like Katrina, who is hogging limelight for her de-glam on-screen portrayal of the widow of a politician in Rajniti and Lara Dutta playing a village belle in movie Billu Barber . On going de-glam, Priyanka said, "I will do it when needed not just to show that I am acting well. And I think that is a greater challenge for any actor." In Bollywood there is a notion that "two actresses can never be friends" and many such stories hit news headlines every now and then. In such a scenario Priyanka's comment will not go down well with other Bollywood actresses. Though the actress has never accepted any arthouse films, she has given performances worth plaudits in Aitraaz and the recently released Fashion . The dusky beauty wants to be a part of entertaining films and box office success does matter for her. |
