Sreekumaran Malayalam superstar Mammootty’s film Kazhcha continues to be the top favorite film among family audiences downsouth. The film, starring Mammootty and child artist Master Yash, has brought family audiences back to the theatres with its clean and sentimental story about a Gujarati boy in Kuttanad. 
Directed by newcomer Blessey, Kazhcha is an authentic assertion of the universality of love, compassion and empathy. It appeals both to the ordinary filmgoer as well as the cognoscenti. It is an unconventional film that stands out for thematic novelty and directorial skill. The film seems to have gone down well with the audience, tired of being fed stale fares by the mainstream Malayalam cinema. Kazhcha is presently dominating the Malayalam movie scene by hogging the top spot and scoring over other releases like Prithviraj’s Satyam: The Real Identity, Mohanlal’s Natturajavu and Jayasurya-Kavya Madhavan’s ‘Greetings’ Not only is the movie hogging the top spot, its songs too are doing well on music charts. Song Dappu, Dappu Janaki is on number one position while Kuttanadan is on the third spot.
