Trouble erupted when Mohanlal appeared in a liquor advertisement, according to the grapevine. 
The buzz is that Mohanlal did the ad for a prominent liquor brand from Karnataka. The Kottayam-based Mahatma Gandhi National Foundation has taken strong exception to the actor doing the liquor ad. By appearing in the ad, Mohanlal has promoted drinking, says the Foundation. It has written to the family members of Mohanlal urging them to stop the megastar from appearing in such advertisements. According to the anti-prohibition act, it is illegal to do such liquor ads. Therefore, the actor has made himself liable for action under the law. How Mohanlal will weather the storm remains to be seen. It is a sobering thought for the talented actor.
