Kollywood Vikram-struck after Anniyan's super success!

With the Rs 27-crore blockbuster Anniyan well on the way to eclipsing even Rajnikant-starrer Chandramukhi in collection, actor Vikram is on cloud nine.

Reports emanating from Kollywood say Anniyan has already worked wonders at the box office. The first week's collection from major theatres in Chennai is said to be an astounding Rs 51 lakh!

True, Vikram has already done a few memorable films like Sethu and Pithamagan. The latter fetched him the national award for the best actor. But still, his career had not taken off the way it should have. Well, the unprecedented run of Anniyan has given him the much-needed shot in the arm.

No wonder, Vikram is in the seventh heaven. For Vikram it represents a quantum jump in terms of cinematic appeal and stature. It is bound to enormously leverage his 'brand equity' in Tamil filmdom.

So, even as he is luxuriating in the super success of Anniyan, the debonair hero is not allowing the grass to grow under his feet.

He is already working in a movie called "Majaa" in which fast-rising Asin is his heroine. Majaa is the Tamil remake of the Malayalam megahit, Thommante Makkal which had Mammootty in the lead role. The film produced by Rockline Venkatesh, is set for a Diwali release.

The versatile actor, who shares a passion for off-beat roles with his 'mentor' Kamal Haasan , is set to conquer the Telugu film world, too. The Telugu version of Anniyan entitled "Aparichitudu" is doing extremely well. He has been signed up to do a Telugu movie, details of which are being worked out.

If all this is not enough, then there is a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu he is planning to do for producer AM Ratnam.

So, Vikram is the most happening hero in Kollywood now.

Soak it in, Vikram, you richly deserve it!
