And the heroine of the Balaji Shaktivel-directed Kathal, Sandhya , has not looked back. As 'Aishu', the rich man's daughter who falls for a commoner, Sandhya won critical acclaim. The Kathal success heralded the arrival of a new star in Kollywood. 
In between, she hopped over to neighbouring Kerala to do a Malayalam film, ‘Alice In Wonderland’, which had Jayaram as the hero. Here again, Sandhya made her histrionic presence felt as a hypersensitive girl. The film was not a commercial success. But Sandhya's role was well appreciated. The girl "with smiling eyes" has well and truly arrived, and is busy in half a dozen Tamil films. Offers are pouring in from Tollywood too. What more do you need? Her next project is Vallavan in which she has been paired against Silambarasan. She is doing Dishum for Oscar films. Her hero in the film is Jeeva. Among other films in the pipeline are one with Dhanush, Rajnikant's son-in-law. She has also snapped up two more films with fast-rising Arya and Bharat. The latter was hero in her debut film Kathal. All in all, it is Sandhya Times for the smiling beauty!
