It’s a double role for Rajnikant in 'Sivaji': Has Ash said yes?

Tamil superstar Rajnikant will play the father and son in his forthcoming film ‘Sivaji’, says the buzz from Kollywood.

As the father, Rajni will play a big zamindar who gets cheated and lands in jail for no fault of his.

The street-smart son avenges the father’s humiliation and in the process, vanquishes a host of villains.

The first phase of shooting that began in Hyderabad in the first week of December, is over. The second phase has started in Chennai.

Recently, some scenes featuring Rajni and Shreya were filmed at Chennai Central railway station. Special permission was reportedly granted for the shooting by none other than Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, on the recommendation of his deputy, R.Velu of the DMK.

The third phase of the shooting is slated to begin again in Hyderabad soon, it is learnt.

Meanwhile, Kollywood is again agog with news that Bollywood queen Aishwarya Rai has at last given her consent to act with Rajnikant in ‘Sivaji’.

Unconfirmed reports say director Shankar has succeeded in getting the nod from Ash, who wants to complete her work in the film in a one-month long shooting schedule.

Shankar enjoys a good rapport with Ash ever since she acted in a film directed by him long time ago. The film titled ‘Jeans’ had Prasanth as the hero.

As Rajni was keen on having Ash this time, Shankar used all his persuasion to get the go-ahead from the much-sought after Rai. If Ash accepts the offer, then there is a possibility of Shreya’s role getting reduced.

Remember the fate that overtook Nayanthara in Chandramukhi . Jyothika got away with the meaty role while Nayan had to content herself with being Rajni Saar’s glamourous love angle that figured in a few song sequences only. Will Shreya meet the same fate?
