Since the attempt to have a firm foothold in Tamil cinema came a cropper, the dainty damsel returned to home turf: Bollywood. Moon Moon Sen 's beautiful daughter Riya Sen made her Kollywood debut in a film produced under a prestigious banner. 
The film, titled ‘Taj Mahal’, was directed by veteran Mani Ratnam . As ill luck would have it, the film bombed, dashing Riya’s hopes of a fruitful career in Tamil cinema. Unfazed by the Kollywood failure, Ms Sen made another attempt to make her presence felt in southern cinema. This time it was Malayalam cinema that Riya set her sights on. Fortunately for her, the film, ‘Ananthabhadram’ clicked at the box office. The movie, based on black magic and sorcery, was directed by ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan . Incidentally, it was Sivan’s directorial debut in Mollywood as well. ‘Ananthabhadram’ had Riya essaying the role of a seductress, which gave her enough opportunity to ooze oomph on the silver screen. The effort was well appreciated by the Malayalam film fans. The success of ‘Ananthabhadram’ has gladdened Riya’s heart. But like Isha Koppikar , Riya too wants to set Kollywood alight.
