Sreekumaran Kerala-born heroines are making a big splash in neighbouring Tamil cinema these days. If beautiful Bhavana Puri is queuing it up in Kollywood right now, another Kerala-born actress Navya Nair is also making waves there. Navya, who made her debut in Tamil with ‘Azhagiya Theeye’, hit big time with the super success of ‘Chidambarathil Oru Appaswamy’. In the film, she played a housewife, who boldly faces the crises that beset her life. It catapulted Navs to the pinnacle of fame. 
Offers have come thick and fast since then. She is currently doing ‘Mayakkannadi’ with Cheran in the male lead. Then comes the PV Chandran-directed ‘Aadum Koothu’. A third film, yet to be titled is in the pipeline, says the cinematic buzz from Kollywood. It is not as if Navya is not getting any new films in Mollywood. There is ‘Pathaka’ in which her hero is the Action King Suresh Gopi . But, speculation is swirling that Ms Nair is not too keen to sign up Malayalam films. Why ? The reason is not far to seek. She has to act in three films to make the kind of money she earns with a single Tamil movie. So, why expend energies in a less-friendly milieu ?
