Jyothika is quitting films following her marriage to long-time boy friend, Surya . The confirmation has come from Surya himself at a meet-the-press function in Chennai, where. Surya's father, Shivakumar tried to mollify an aggrieved media personnel who were kept out of the wedding ceremony. 
Jo's exit at the end of a 10-year-long glittering career, will be a big loss for Tamil film world. The piece de resistance of her career was of course, Chandramukhi in which her co-star was the redoubtable Rajnikant . She also played the heroine in Kamal Haasan 's latest movie, Vettayadu Vilayadu , which is doing ‘Kamaal’ at the box office. It remains to be seen whether Jo will complete two more films, which are still in the making. These are: Gautham Menon's ‘Silanthi’ and Mohan Radha's ‘Mozhi’. The star couple threw a big bash for close friends from the film world at Park Sheraton the other day. Buddies like Ajit and wife Shalini, Danush, Reema Sen , Sonia Aggarwal, director Priyadarshan , Silambarasan and Gautham Menon attended the party. The couple will have a brief honeymoon in Europe. Reports have it that it will be a short trip, as Surya has to be back by month-end for the shooting of his new film, directed by Gautham Menon.
