She reigned supreme in the Tamil film world for years. Then, the tide turned and she faded out of it almost unobtrusively, only to dominate Bhojpuri cinema.
But, the big news from Kollywood is that the doe-eyed beauty, who was the heartthrob of millions of Tamil fans, is staging a comeback.
Well, the heroine in spotlight is none other than Nagma , sister of Jyothika . While Jo has quit the film world after her marriage, Nagma has no intention of making her exit.
Although she made it to the top in Bhojpuri films, Nagma has always wanted to stage a comeback in Tamil films.
The chance has come now. The grapevine says the buxom bell has been signed up for a Tamil movie titled Sundari. The film, shooting for which will begin shortly, will have another heroine as well. The hero is yet to be decided.
Nagma rose to dizzying heights in Tamil cinema with an impressive array of films that included ‘Kadhalan’, ‘Basha’ and ‘Mettukkudi’. Such was her popularity at one stage that she came to be known as the 'Jubilee heroine'.
But then luck deserted her. Her films started flopping. And she was constrained to migrate to Bhojpuri films for sheer survival.
Now that Nags is back in Kollywood, let us hope her comeback vehicle will pitchfork her back to the pinnacle of glory.
