RajnikantRajnikant highly impressed by Kamal Haasan and 'Dasavatharam'

Kollywood’s crème, including superstar Rajnikant , were invited to special screenings of Kamal Haasan 's magnum opus Dasavatharam in Chennai on Tuesday and Wednesday.

“Extraordinary,” Rajnikant is reported to have exclaimed on Tuesday. The superstar was apparently overwhelmed by the film and Kamal’s performance.




Scenes built around the tsunami particularly came in for praise. Impressed by Kamal’s different avatars, Rajnikant discussed the details with him during the intermission.

Rajnikant watched the preview of much hyped magnum opus of his friend and co-superstar and was stunned with the film.

He almost went speechless after watching the film and he searched for words when he spoke to the media about his ‘Dasavatharam’ experience. He praised Kamal by using exclamatory words in his own style, “Excellent, Mind boggling, Simply Superb, Kamal rocked’.

Each and every filmy legend’s reaction was similar to that of Rajni’s who watched the film.

'Dasavatharam' – the costliest Indian film ever made on a whopping budget of Rs.130 crores – is releasing worldwide today with a record number of prints all over the world.

The film's Hindi and Telugu versions are likely to be released two weeks later. Telugu version will be released with 250 prints and hundreds of theatres, which is on par with any other star hero film’s release in Tollywood. In Hyderabad alone the film is releasing in 35 screens, which is a record for a dubbing film.

One of the most versatile actors in Indian cinema, Kamal, reputed for his penchant for emulating the best achievements in world cinema, is poised to create a world record.

In 'Dasavatharam', he is all set to regale his fans playing a record ten roles, including that of US President George Bush, who would see the film later when he is free.

In this film, with a record 1,000 prints in the history of Tamil cinema, Kamal would be surpassing the existing record of Tamil cinema's thespian of yesteryears late Sivaji Ganesan, who had played nine roles in a film in the 60s ('Navaraatri'), and Hollywood actor late Alec Guinness who had portrayed eight roles in a film in the late 40s, in 'Kind Hearts and Coronets'.

Kamal leads a bevy of beauties led by Asin and Mallika Sherawat in the film shot in India and abroad. Some shots were even filmed under water.

Publicists said that its computer graphics' bill itself cost a mind boggling Rs.250 million.

'One of the graphics highlights is a scene that features five Kamals in a single car,' said the publicist.

Heres hoping that the box-office verdict will vindicate Kamal's efforts.
