HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | DOWN SOUTH : TAMIL Mallika Sherawat to play oomph diva from south11th Oct 2008 13.00 IST By ApunKaChoice If things go as planned, Bollywood bombshell Mallika Sherawat will act in a biopic on the late Tamil oomph diva ‘Silk’ Smitha. Silk Smitha was a glamour queen of the 1980s Tamil cinema. She had a very tumultuous life with many depressing incidents that provoked her to commit suicide in 1996. 
Grapevine has it that Ekta Kapoor, the lady at the helm of Balaji Telefilms, is toying with the idea of making a film on the life of Silk Smitha and she wants none other than Mallika Sherawat to play the glam doll. The project is still in planning stages and none of the remaining cast and crew has been finalized. Mallika, who played a small but significant role opposite Kamal Haasan in Dasavatharam , is the top contender to bag the role of Silk Smitha. Not only is Mallika now a known face downsouth, she also has the oomph to suit the role. Presently, Mallika is busy shooting for Hisss in which she plays a snake woman.
