Hyderabad will treasure it forever. In a spectacular function in the Andhra Pradesh capital on Sunday, Telugu cinema’s living legend Chiranjeevi was felicitated by a galaxy of film personalities not only from southern cinema but also from Bollywood.

The icing on the cake was the presence as chief guest of Bollywood Shahenshah Amitabh Bachchan himself.

The presence of a bevy of beauties including Sridevi, Jayaprada, Suhasini, Rambha and Radhika lent the glittering function a touch of glamour and glitz.

The function had been got up to felicitate the Telugu cinema’s mega star on being awarded Padma Bhushan this year.

The programme, attended by top producers and directors like Dasari Narayana Rao and D. Rama Naidu, started with a classical dance recital by celebrated Malayalam actress Shobhana . Incidentally, Shobhana was Chiru’s heroine in ‘Rowdy Alludu’ and ‘Rudraveena’.

Amitabh Bachchan lavished praise on Chiru who has completed more than two decades in films. The Big B wished him greater success and hoped he would go on to win Bharat Ratna one day.

A visibly emotional Chiranjeevi was for once at a loss for words.

The Mega star, who began his illustrated career way back in 1978 with ‘Punaadi Raallu’, has so far acted in 140 films.

Shivanand.

A diploma holder in acting, 52-year-old Chiranjeevi is equally known for his social service activities as well.

The function was held at the Gachchibowli Stadium in Hyderabad. Such was the rush that many of his fans had to go back disappointed, unable to gain an entry.
