SCOOP!! & NEWS Rohit Bal to design uniform for British Airways29th Nov 2004 19.15 IST By ApunKaChoice Bureau The ‘Gudda’ of Indian fashion industry, Rohit Bal , will design new uniforms for the staff of British Airways. The present uniform of sari and salwar kameez that the customer service staff and cabin crew of British Airways in the UK, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh wear is going to replaced by a kurta suit, a Nehru style collared jacket and sherwani designed by Rohit Bal. Bal's new designs, based around those created by top British designer Julien McDonald, are expected to be introduced from spring 2005. 
"The new Rohit Bal uniform will complement these benefits to provide our customers flying between south Asia and the UK with a truly regional service," head of design management at British Airways, Mike Crump, is quoted to have said. To cater for female staff members who prefer to dress more conservatively, Bal will be designing a stylish sari. The new uniform will also include longer jackets, dark navy pin striped trousers and long sleeved, loose fitting shirts.
