Buyers, viewers and the media too appeared to be biased towards big names in the fashion world as day two of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week in Delhi started on a low note with the designers showing to almost empty chairs.
Designers Neeta Bhargava and Ashish Pandey got a lukewarm response with only relatives and friends of the organisers and members of the designers' teams attending the show.
In contrast, shows of big timers like Rohit Bal and Raghuvendra Rathore , which took place last night, played to packed galleries with little space for people even to manage a toehold.
NIFT alumnus Ashish Pandey's collection 'Yesterday Once More', was a mix of the traditional and contemporary, showcasing Indian choli in a more chic and trendy wearable pret form accompanied by silhouettes in pure brocades in hues of fuchsia pink, turquoise and glowing flame teamed with neutrals.
Ashish, who grew up amid the royal splendour of Rajasthan, portrayed a perfect blend of the past with the present showing his understanding of the modern pan-Indian classicism.
Neeta Bhargava played wonderfully with basic colours of black and white, adding a dash of passion with red.
