HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | FASHION Simran Kaur Mundi crowned Miss India-Universe 200806th Apr 2008 14.45 IST By Agencies Simran Kaur Mundi of Mumbai was crowned Miss India Universe 2008 at a glittering function held at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai on Sunday night. Parvathy Omanakuttam of Kerala won the Miss India World crown while Harshita Saxena of Goa was declared Miss India Earth. 
All the three winners will represent the country at the international beauty pageants during the year. Simran Mundi is a Biotech graduate who has worked with a cinema chain in Mumbai. Harshita Saxena quit her BBA degree in Canada to participate in the contest. And Parvathy Omanakuttam is proud to be the first Malayali to win a Miss India contest. They were selected from among 28 finalists in the presence of prominent personalities from the field of fashion and Bollywood. The panel of judges comprised of Katrina Kaif , Tabu , J J Valaya , Rina Dhaka , Arnab Goswami, Zeenat Aman , Dino Morea and Shiamak Davar . The evening began with performances by contestants to the theme track ‘Main Miss India’, choreographed by Sandip Soparrkar. The contestants then walked the ramp in creations by designers Ritu Kumar , Shantanu and Nikhil, and Pantaloon. Thereafter, the contestants displayed jewelry by D’damas. The elimination rounds were interspersed with scintillating performances by Bollywood divas Kareena Kapoor , Bipasha Basu and Sameera Reddy . The performances were choreographed by ace dancer Shiamak Davar. The show was hosted by Madhavan and Dia Mirza .
