Making the 'Tashan' stars look grungy and gaudy

When the movie’s title happens to be ‘Tashan’, the stars have got to make a style statement with their look as well.

The onus of designing this look fell on Aki Narula who is well known among his peers for thinking out of the box when it comes to setting new fashion trends. He came up with some shockingly garish outfits in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom , the doomed Yashraj film of the last year.

Now, Aki comes up with his wacky fashion sense again in the banner’s next release ‘Tashan’, starring Akshay Kumar , Saif Ali Khan , Kareena Kapoor and Anil Kapoor in main roles.

If you check out the costumes that the actors wear in the film (click at Tashan ) you will undoubtedly notice that they are gaudy, garish and grungy. There is a prominent use of bright colors, particularly in the clothes worn by Akshay Kumar, who plays a rough and tough thief from countryside.

A source from the film’s unit says: “The actors, the designer, the director ( Vijay Krishna Acharya ) and the producer ( Aditya Chopra ) worked together as a team to come up with the look of the characters.”

Since Saif plays a call-centre employee who is a Casanova with girls, he was given a somewhat mod look with T-shirts and cargos. He also sports a punkish hairstyle and a drooping moustache.

Akshay’s character was made to look the flashiest. And the actor absolutely loved the colorful dresses that Aki gave him to wear.

Kareena, who had whittled away all the extra flab from her body, was given a grungy, messy look with acid-washed jeans and jackets.

Only Anil Kapoor, who plays an illiterate gangster fascinated with everything English, was given proper suits to wear.

The final look of all the characters looks extremely eye-catching in the promos.

‘Tashan’ is set to release this Friday.
