HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | FASHION Neha Dhupia walks the ramp at Colombo Fashion Show02nd June 2008 11.00 IST By Agencies Bollywood actress and former Miss India Universe Neha Dhupia walked the ramp alongside leading models from India and other countries, as she gave a 'save the environment' call, lauding Sri Lanka's project of planting 10 million trees within the next five years. At a glitzy star packed event on Saturday night, several international designers and the who's who of Indian fashion industry converged here to showcase their creations. 
"I am visiting Sri Lanka for the first time but hope to come here more number of times", Neha said after briefly leading models in the fashion show. The "cock tail" designer sarees crafted adeptly by Shobhaa De, also a well-known columnist and novelist, came in for applause from the celebrities who had gathered at the "Colombo Fashion Statement", organised by the Times of India Group, Sri Lankan Tourism and Rotary club of Sri Lanka, among others. The author, who was specially invited by Sri Lankan tourism, said Indians should visit the picturesque island in great numbers in view of its green cover attraction. A former model, she said that Indian sarees were always looked upon with fascination the world over. A short film shown on the occasion invited tourists to enjoy Sri Lanka Tourism's 'Earth Lung Carbon Clean Sri Lanka initiative', aimed at mitigating the effects of global warming and the impact of long haul air travel on the environment. The Rotary club of Sri Lanka said the organisation is implementing a Green Cover project under which it would plant 10 million trees in the Island nation within the next five years.
