Leonardo DiCaprio favourite to play Frank Sinatra

The ‘Gangs of New York’ star is facing stiff competition from other stars like Jamie Foxx and Harry Connick Jr. to play the role in director Martin Scorsese’s biopic on the 'Rat Pack' crooner.

Though a terrific actor, Leonardo isn’t quite gifted when it comes to singing and it was for this reason he lost the leading part in ‘Moulin Rouge’ to Scottish actor Ewan McGregor.


But this time, Leo seems determined to bag the part. For, he is learnt to have hired a singing coach to mimic the 'Ol' Blue Eyes' singer.

The Sun quotes a source as saying: “Leo has hired a top vocal coach to get him sounding like Sinatra. He is a massive fan of the singer and has always wanted to play him. He would be sick to miss out on the leading role because his singing wasn’t up to scratch…He is now in intensive vocal coaching lessons to replicate Sinatra’s distinctive style.”

Another top contender to play the role is Jamie Foxx who won an Oscar for his performance as legendary musician Ray Charles in the Hollywood movie ‘Ray’.

But given the fact that the film on Sinatra is being made by Scorsese (who’s directed Leo three times in the past), there’s a fat chance that DiCaprio might bag the part.
