The dashing Sanjay Dutt , who turned 46 on July 29, completes 24 years in Bollywood this year. And in those 24 years, he has seen all the ups and downs of life.

In an interview to a leading entertainment portal, Dutt admits that life hasn't been a bed of roses for him. His name has been called again and again in controversies. But as a human being he is still the same and nothing has changed much in that regard. He, however got a bit mature to differentiate between near and dear ones and friends and foe.

On the passing away of his father the legendary Sunil Dutt , Dutt said: "Things are no more the same. I'm still unable to take the reality. I'm still in a haze, believing that he'll come back to me calling my name. Even time has unable to make up for the loss in my life. I've realized his worth in my life after he is gone. whether it was during my drug phase or my days in jail, he was always there for me. My life has become a vacuum now."

On the changes he has seen in the 24 years in Bollywood, Dutt said: "As an actor I do see immense change. I've grown through the years and the process is still continuing. I've adjusted to doing romantic scene, which I was uncomfortable doing before. I've also tackled the situation of dancing on stage. I believe that I do better now. I'm more eased and open in acting terms. I've earned words of appreciation for the change. I'm doing good works and also good banner films are coming to me."

On Munnabhai MBBS , Dutt said: "It was a very pleasant experience. I got the chance to work with my father in the film. I also got the opportunity to team up with Vidhu Vinod Chopra . The film did well and I'm really happy about it. I had a very well etched character and that made things easy. I was doing comedy in films and there was the tragedy of the hearings happening in real life. It was stressful to manage two roles. But the film de-stressed me."

On the so many gangster roles that he has done, Dutt said: I believe my personality and my stature suits those roles. I've done intense as well as comic gangster roles like 'Munnabhai' and Plan . But gangster's films like 'Naam', Vaastav and Munnabhai are my favorite.

On his expectations from the future, Dutt said that he wants the court case to end so that he can concentrate on my career. This is the last hurdle of his life he believes. "It's been so long and I'm unable to handle it anymore. I'm also working very hard. I want to go for rest. I want to do more performance-oriented roles and I'm doing fewer projects now."

That is Dutt for you, the real rocking star of Bollywood - talented and controversial at the same time.
