Jab We Met is a story of today's times: Shahid Kapur

Shahid Kapur says today’s youngsters would be able to relate to the story of his latest movie Jab We Met .

The film is a love story starring Shahid opposite his now separated lover Kareena Kapoor . Imtiaz Ali (who made Socha Na Tha ) is the film’s director.

Speaking to reporters about the film in Mumbai, Shahid said: “The USP of 'Jab We Met' is that it is a story of today's times. We all have traveled to different places sometime in life and the unique factor of the film is that it shows a magical and romantic journey of two diametrically opposite people, which can happen to anyone,” he said.

Shahid added: “My role in the film is completely different as I'm seen portraying subdued emotions.”

The movie has Shahid playing Aditya, a rich industrialist, who is going through a low phase in life. He is depressed, dejected and is running away from everything, wanting to be alone. It is then he meets Geet (Kareena) who is a complete chatterbox, talking all the time, full of life and excitement, totally in contrast to the emotions he's going through.

“It is a beautiful story about life, travel, very young and fresh and a magical journey of two extremely different people who meet while travelling and how their life unfolds,” Shahid said.

One of the joys of being a part of this movie was that Shahid got to travel to different parts of India.

“We visited places all over India such as Nabha, Punjab, Manali, Rajasthan, Mandava, Rohtang Pass, Khandala, Bhatinda and so many other areas. From sub-zero temperature places like Rohtang Pass to extremely hot places like Rajasthan each place was a fabulous experience,” Shahid said.

When asked about a memorable experience from the making of the film, Shahid recalled: “Once during the shoot my dad (highly respected actor Pankaj Kapur ) came to meet me in Khandala and due to his presence I became so nervous I just couldn't do my scenes. Then I had to ask him to go away for some time saying I would meet him later.”

‘Jab We Met’ has hit the theatres today. The film has reportedly got a good opening.
