More than a dozen singers from the Indian film industry will come together to sing a song, written by lyricist Javed Akhtar , to raise funds for tsunami relief.
The song, to be recorded on January 12, is based on the tune composed by music directors Jatin-Lalit.
The song will be performed live on January 18 at the Annual Star Plus-Screen Film Awards.
Plans are afoot to later release the song commercially in a single-track album, proceeds from the sales of which will go towards the relief and rehabilitation work for the victims of December 26 Tsunami disaster that took more than 1,50,000 lives in Southeast Asian countries.
Speaking about the song, Lalit Pandit (one of the composers) told a daily: “Our song is all about a positive approach to life. It’s actually an appeal. We want people to hear it and lend a helping hand.”
Singers Alka Yagnik , Udit Narayan , Shaan , Sonu Nigam , Shreya Ghoshal, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sapna Mukherjee and Sadhna Sargam are likely to wield the microphone for the tsunami song.
