Septuagenarian singing legend Lata Mangeshkar is unparalleled in the world of Hindi film songs.
The melody and fervor in her voice still resonates sharply in her songs. The nightingale of Indian film music, Lata Mangeshkar , is still in demand even though she is in her 70s.
The films Lataji has sung for in the last one year – Veer Zaara , Page 3 , Lucky – No Time For Love – have all done fairly good at box-office. And for this reason she is being deemed as ‘the lucky mascot’ once again.
In an interview to IANS, Lataji said the credit for this goes to melody. She is quoted: “Yes I know, I sing very selectively now. By god's grace, whichever film I sang for recently has turned into a success. People say I'm the common thread among them. But the common thread is melody.”
Lataji also revealed that when she sang the song Shayad Yehi To Pyar Hai for newcomer Sneha Ullal in ‘Lucky’, she was not aware that she was singing for a nineteen-year-old girl.
“I didn't know whom the song was for. All I knew was it was a song about discovering love,” Lataji is quoted by the agency.
