The Path of Fire

A wound festers inside the protagonist of Agneepath. It’s a wound he’s deliberately kept smarting since childhood lest he forget the gross injustice done to his idealist father at the hands of an evil drug lord.

It’s Vijay Dinanath Chauhan versus Kancha Cheena once again in the modern version of the 1990 cult movie Agneepath, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Danny Denzongpa as arch foes. The tall, lanky, kohl-eyed Vijay played by Amitabh has now been replaced by a younger and beefy Vijay by Hrithik Roshan. His love interest in the movie is not a nurse, but a girl who lives in a Mumbai chawl. Kaali is her name and she is played by Priyanka Chopra.

Adding a menacing streak to Kancha Cheena’s villainy in the remake is Sanjay Dutt, bald and seriously bad.

Agneepath is directed by Karan Johar’s assistant Karan Malhotra. The screenplay has been adapted from the Mukul Anand’s story by Ila Bedi Datta and Karan Malhotra.

Vijay is a young man with one aim in life: to get closer to the man who killed his baba (father) and reclaim his ancestral village.

Kaali is a simple girl who becomes a source of solace for Vijay Dinanath Chauhan.

Rauf Lala is a gang lord who runs a crime syndicate in Mumbai. He takes a young Vijay under his wings.

Synopsis

In a small Indian village Mandwa, Vijay Dinanath Chauhan (Hrithik Roshan) is taught by his principled father about the path of fire - AGNEEPATH. His life is completely shattered when the evil drug dealer Kancha (Sanjay Dutt) hangs his father to death.

Vijay leaves for Bombay with his pregnant mother and has only one mission in life -- to come back to Mandwa and bring back the glory of his father's name.

In Bombay, 12-yr-old Vijay is taken under the wings of the city gang lord Rauf Lala (Rishi Kapoor). From then on it is a journey of revenge where he makes and breaks many relationships only to get closer to his aim.

Vijay finds support only in his best friend Kaali (Priyanka Chopra), who stands by him at every moment in his life. Fifteen years later his hatred for Kancha takes him back to Mandwa where life comes full circle.

The final showdown between Vijay and Kancha is a battle of life or death. Will the good prevail over evil?
