Here's some easy-on-the-ear music - The Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega Music Review
RATING: 6 There is a pinch of freshness in Anu Malik's work these days.
At least that is the impression one gets after listening to the musical score of 'Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega', directed by Raj Kanwar, with brawny Salman Khan, dimpled dame Preity Zinta and the cute looking Rani Mukherjee. The album, released under the T-Series title has some sentimental lyrics penned by Sameer exclusively for the romantic theme of the movie.
The album opens with the title song “Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega' which has a sentimental melody and quite slushy lyrics. The song is low in tempo and is heartily rendered by the singers Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik. Then follows 'Dil Dil Deewana', a romantic song that is plain and pleasing. Sonu Nigam shares the microphone with Alka Yagnik on the next number 'Aate Jate Jo Milta Hai' which reminds a listener of the old Rafi songs. Sameer has written some soulful lyrics.
Indipop artiste KK renders 'Sahiba Sahiba', an English-Konkani number with some inconsequential lyrics from Sameer. Moreover KK has made the song sound a bit slushy with too many interjections and an overt attempt to 'pour the heart out.'
As in most of his musical scores, in this one too, Anu Malik satisfied his irrepressible ambition to exercise his vocal chords in 'Ek Garam Chai Ki Pyali' which sounds like a typical Anu Malik composition. Then, Alka Yagnik sounds like a canary in the sad version of the title song 'Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega.'
Pinky-Preety - the two Gujrati sisters, who have already made a place for themselves in popdom after their debut album 'Jhoome Jahan' - share the microphone with Prashant on the next song 'Piya Piya O Piya', which sounds very much like their previous hit 'Pi Pi Papeeha'. The album closes with 'Aisa Pehli Bar Hua Hai', sung by Sonu Nigam. Anu Malik has tried to bring some freshness to the sound by putting some Arabian tunes in the song.
Although 'Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega' has a variety of sounds to it, and Sameer, too, has tried to infuse something new to it by penning some cute and sentimental lyrics, the album still fails to deliver something truly remarkable. The good thing about the album is that it has Anu Malik's own compositions rather than bits and pieces lopped off from other people's harmonies.
Overall 'Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega' is an easy-on-the-ear musical score that commands much of its shelf value because of the star cast in it.
