Kya Love Story Hai is the story of a carefree and wayward youth, Arjun Tusshar Kapoor, who experiences love-at-first-sight with Kaajal Ayesha Takia. It isn't a typical meet-cute situation - he follows her for some time before succeeding in breaking the ice. For Kaajal, Arjun is a mere acquaintance, but the latter is in love with her and afraid of conveying his feelings. On befriending her, he learns that she lost her mother years back and that her father was busy traveling abroad on business. A situation arises when Kaajal comes across a letter, which Arjun has written for the girl he loves, but she doesn't know to whom he is referring. Arjun deliberately asks her how she would reciprocate his love if she were the girl he was in love with? Kaajal's reply leaves Arjun self-introspecting, making him mysteriously disappear from the scene. In the mean time, a successful and snooty entrepreneur meets Kaajal. Following some heated verbal scuffles with her, he concludes that she would make for an appropriate life-partner because she was a stabilizing influence and kept him mellow. When Arjun returns to South Africa, during an astonishingly coincidental encounter, he finds Kaajal engaged to the entrepreneur! Destiny has entangled three hearts, but who will emerge victorious? Who will make the grand gesture? Kya Love Story Hai is a feel-good romantic comedy oriented at young love.
Kajal has always dreamt of a particular guy in her life. Arjun is a good-for-nothing type of a guy; he is not ambitious or serious about his work. So when she actually comes to know him more and more, she realizes what she wanted in life was not right.

Storyline
The film's story is set in South Africa.
Tusshar Kapoor plays Arjun, a carefree, happy-go-lucky lad who falls head-over-heels in love with Kaajal (Ayesha Takia) the first time he sees her. After following Kaajal for some time, Arjun manages to get acquainted with her.
While for Arjun it is love at first sight, Kaajal is hardly aware of his feelings. Arjun wants to tell her, but can't muster the courage to do so.
One day, Kaajal finds a letter which Arjun has apparently written for a girl he very much loves. Kaajal obviously doesn't know who the girl is. Arjun then asks her how she would feel if the letter was addressed to her.
Kaajal's reply makes Arjun think deep. He distances himself from her and goes into seclusion.
In the meantime, Kaajal meets a rich entrepreneur. After a slight tiff with Kaajal the entrepreneur realizes that she is the perfect girl for him. He decides to marry her.
On the other hand, Arjun meets Kaajal again in a chance encounter. But he is shocked to find that there is another man in her life. Kaajal, too, gets to see a different side of Arjun, a mature one.
This complex web of emotions creates a triangle in which Arjun's love for Kaajal is tested. Kaajal, too, has to make the biggest choice of her life.
The highlight of the film is a song 'It's Rocking', shot on Kareena Kapoor. Overall, the movie has five catchy songs.
