Patriotism's battle with terrorism

'Sarfarosh' is director John Mathan's debut film. The movie is about terrorism and the proxy war Pakistan is waging against India through ISI. The Film's main attraction is Amir Khan who plays the tough cop out to nab the terrorists.
The movie tries to go to the depth of some of the real reasons behind terrorism and insurgency in India. 'Sarfarosh' shows how guns and drugs are smuggled in, across the border at Rajasthan, and how they reach the interiors of India, spreading terror and destruction.
The director has tried to capture terrorism in different parts of India. The film is shot in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthanl, Delhi and Mumbai.
Ajay (Aamir Khan) is an honest young man. His life changes completely after an encounter with terrorists. He is threatened by terrorists. He loses his brother. His father becomes physically disabled. But Ajay is a determined young man. He does not lose heart and finds a reason to live.
Sometimes the script seems to be moving too fast. The film tries to capture too much in the limited time. But seems to hold viewer's attention.
Sonali Bendre is sizzling in 'Sarfarosh'. She romances Amir Khan in the film. Director has used her beauty to its full potential. She looks really stunning in sexy sarongs. Waterfall songs are a treat for eyes of front-benchers.
Naseerudin Shah impresses with his performance as ghazal singer. Amir Khan is great. He brings his character alive through his ability to get into the skin of his character.
Music of the movie is so-so. A ghazal sung by Jagjit Singh is refreshing. Sarfarosh has potential to do well at the box office but with the mega event of the year, Cricket World Cup '99 just round the corner, India's Hero No. 1 Sachin Tendulkar will create problems for Actor No.1 Amir Khan. | |
