How far can greed take a man? Can the 'greens' ever fight the money and might of the builders lobby? Can nature ever win over the bulldozer? These are the riveting issues raised by Shikhar. Pitted against each other in this battle of man v/s nature are two different but equally powerful protagonists. Gaurav Gupta aka GG Ajay Devgan is the man who started with nothing and now believes that only money can fuel his ambitions. While Guruji Jawed Sheikh, to the manor born, believes that wealth means nothing if not used for society. Caught in the tussle between the two is the unworldly Jaidev Vardhan Shahid Kapoor, who while respecting his father's philosophy, falls hook, line and sinker for GG's gilt-edged dreams. While Guruji hopes that Jai will return to his roots, GG uses the glamorous Natasha Bipasha Basu to bewitch Jai and the unscrupulous politician Amrit Patil, to exploit the tribal into selling their lands. Madhavi Amrita Rao watches the man she loves being carried away in to a world of wine, women and wealth. If Shikhar is the Pinnacle of good deeds and thoughts, Shikhar is also the height of ambition and greed. Which peak will Jai choose to scale in this battle of man vs. nature?

Shikhar
Shikhar is the story of the conflict between two men - one who is the pinnacle of good deeds and thoughts, and the other who is the height of ambition and greed.
Pakistani actor Jawed Sheikh plays Guruji/Shridhan Vardhan who is idealistic yet progressive and believes that wealth must be used for the good of society. He abhors violence and greed and his Rishivan Ashram is a haven of peace and tranquility. The embodiment of traditional Indian values and an Industrial magnate, he steps out of his business to become a social crusader.
The intense Ajay Devgan plays Gaurav Gupta (GG) whose entire life is a gamble that must be won at any cost. Sex bomb Bipasha Basu plays Natasha a glamorous model.
Shahid Kapur plays Jaidev Vardhan, the son of Guruji a fresh graduate, unspoilt, vulnerable and ripe for GG's scheming manipulations. The cute Amrita Rao plays Madhavi, who watches the man she loves (Jaidev) being carried away in to a world of wine, women and wealth. Her peak of devotion - to stand by her ideals and the man she loves.
GG lives life king size and dreams big. He has no time for losers. The nature, environment, tribal...are words that do not exist in his dictionary. The only words that matter to him are - ambition, winning. His peak of ambition - to build a city where he will rule.
Hopelessly in love with GG, Natasha will do whatever he says. She will bewitch the gullible Jai, knowing well that what she's doing is wrong and will forever put Jai at GG's mercy. Her peak of deceit - to cast a seductive spell on Jai.
Jaidev is simple and sincere till he falls into GG's trap. His peak of conflict - to follow his father's values or GG's vices.
Guruji now wants to work for the upliftment of the tribals in the Sahyadrris and GG dreams of usurping the Vardhan Empire. But what GG has not reckoned with is the steely determination of Guruji.
There is a weak link that GG can exploit - Guruji's only son, Jaidev. Striking up an acquaintance with the unsuspecting Jaidev, he proposes that they work together on an image build-up for Vardhan Industries.
While Guruji hopes that Jaidev will return to his roots, GG uses the glamorous Natasha to bewitch Jaidev and the unscrupulous politician Amrit Patil, to exploit the tribals into selling their lands.
GG plans a huge advertising campaign to be shot in Singapore. A large unit of models and crew are taken to Singapore. For Jaidev it's a whole new experience as he walks into the trap of falling in love with one of the models (Natasha). His dreams change. Drinking, smoking, gambling...he is sucked into a vortex of vaulting ambition and naked greed.
Whether Jaidev will stick to the values that he has been imbibed with or go astray is what the film is all about.
'Shikhar' also has the dashing John Abraham in a five-minute guest appearance.
Produced by Saanjoy Bhattcharjii, 'Shikhar' is directed by J M Mathan , who last directed the superhit Sarfarosh . The film is scheduled to release on 16 December.
