The Supari Movie Review

Supari is the story of four young guys Aryan [Uday Chopra] Papad [Rahul Dev], Chicken [Purab Kohli] and Mushy [Akash Saigal] who want to make some easy money to get to 'high life'.

To take a 'short cut' to riches Aryan and his friends place a heavy sum of money on a bet. But they lose. It was money they didn't have in the first place. A hapless Aryan turns to Pandit, the 'paanwallah' who had helped them place the bet.

Enters into scene the mysterious, 'kohl-eyed' Mamta Sekhri [Nandita Das]. After winning Aryan's confidence, Mamta offers him a gun and a photograph for a contract murder (supari).

Thus begins the youngsters' journey into the world of murder and crime. Buoyant Aryan begins to enjoy the power till he loses his best friend Chicken and his girlfriend Dilnawaz [Nauheed Cyrusi], who is shot by the rival gang's bullet that was actually meant for him.

Broken and dejected Aryan now wants to leave the crime world. And he knows that the only person who can help him is the one who introduced him to the gun - Mamta.

Story of how a bunch of college students get lured to the world of crime, Padam Kumar-directed Supari might have been hard-hitting flick had it been presented in more realistic manner.

With bullets flying left, right and centre, with everyone on a killing spree, the impression that one gets is that the law of the jungle prevails in the city. The four youngsters go on a killing spree in broad daylight in streets, hospital and market.

Even Nandita Das' character in the film is full of many oddities. The movie's screenplay has several loose ends and a few pertinent questions are left unanswered.
